Chhatra Dal announces nationwide protests today

The Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has announced a nationwide protest programme, accusing Islami Chhatra Shibir of staging a “disappearance and abduction drama.”

The announcement came in a statement issued on Sunday (June 14) by JCD Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam.

According to the statement, protest rallies will be held at educational institutions across the country on Sunday to condemn what the organisation described as efforts by Chhatra Shibir to fabricate incidents of enforced disappearance and abduction, malign the government through misinformation campaigns and undermine the suffering of genuine victims.

JCD also alleged that members associated with the student organisation were involved in incidents of rape and violence against women, calling such acts “heinous crimes” that warrant public condemnation.

The programme was announced by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir. The organisation urged its leaders and activists nationwide to take necessary preparations to ensure the success of the demonstrations.
