Maruf Ali, a Chhatra Dal leader, has been expelled from the party for illegally imposing Section 144 and making announcements through loudspeakers because he was not invited to the final match of a football tournament in Lalpur, Natore.

His expulsion was announced through a notification from the Natore district Chhatra Dal on Tuesday, August 25.

Maruf Ali was the joint convener of Lalpur upazila Chhatra Dal. He is a resident of Keshabpur village in the upazila. The final match of the village football tournament has been suspended since his announcement imposing Section 144.

In this regard, Natore district Chhatra Dal President Kamrul Islam and General Secretary Maruf Islam Srijon issued a show-cause notice to Maruf Ali for violating party discipline. Later, as his reply was not found satisfactory, he was expelled from the party.

The expulsion order stated that organisational action was taken against Maruf for violating party discipline while holding a responsible party position. At the same time, party activists have been instructed to refrain from organisational activities with the expelled leader.

KF Kamrul Islam, assistant office secretary of Natore district Chhatra Dal, said Chhatra Dal will not tolerate any act that goes against party discipline. Maruf Ali, joint convener of Lalpur upazila Chhatra Dal, has already been expelled from the party.

Lalpur Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam told the media that he heard that the Chhatra Dal leader made announcements imposing Section 144. However, no complaint has been filed in this regard. As a result, legal action cannot be taken against him.
