Local Chhatra League leaders and activists have broken the lock and taken control of the abandoned Awami League party office in Betagi upazila, Barguna. On Monday afternoon, they entered the office, put up portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and party president Sheikh Hasina, and garlanded them. Subsequently, a signboard was installed at the main gate of the office.

Upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Sifat Sikdar said, "For 18 months, the country was under the control of a militant group. Our leader Sheikh Hasina has instructed us to start visiting Dhanmondi 32 as well as our local party offices. Following her instructions, we went to the Betagi upazila Awami League office and put up banners of party chief Sheikh Hasina, the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the party office. Even in the past, we have carried out various activities in Betagi upazila."

Upazila Awami League General Secretary Maqsudur Rahman informed that Chhatra League has taken control of the office after consulting with them.

The office had remained locked since the mass uprising on August 5, 2024. Leaders and activists have become active again following the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
