Chhatra League activists chant slogans at Rajshahi AL office
Several leaders and activists of Chhatra League chanted slogans on Saturday morning at the abandoned office of Rajshahi district Awami League. National and party flags, along with portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, were seen in their hands.
According to local sources, 12-15 activists gathered in front of the office around 8 am on Saturday. Subsequently, four came before cameras and chanted slogans. Among them, two wore masks, one wore a helmet, and another wore neither helmet nor mask.
They were heard chanting slogans in the names of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina (president of the banned Awami League), party presidium member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, former MP of Rajshahi-3 Asaduzzaman Asad, former district Awami League organising secretary Ahsanul Haque Masud, and Rajshahi College Chhatra League president Rasik Dutta.
The activists first chanted slogans in front of the office holding pictures and flags. They then attempted to enter and hang portraits of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina.
When contacted about the matter, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Additional Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman said, "I am not aware of such an incident. Although Awami League is not banned, its activities are prohibited. There is no scope for such activities by going to the party office. If police had seen it, they would have arrested them."
