Chhatra League leader found dead in Chapainawabganj

Police have recovered the body of Emon Ahmed Payel, a leader of the banned Chhatra League, hanging from his home in the Pithalitala area of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj on Friday afternoon, May 22.

The deceased was the son of Md Ashraful Haque Silu Mohoril and served as the assistant general secretary of the municipal unit of Chhatra League.

Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Motiur Rahman said police recovered the body based on information from locals. The body has been sent to the 250-bed district hospital morgue for autopsy.

"It has not yet been confirmed whether Emon committed suicide or if there is another cause. The actual cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report," he said.

An unnatural death case has been registered in connection with the incident. No complaint had been filed by the family as of Friday evening.
