Chhatra League leader's body found hanging at yarn mill in Narayanganj

Police have recovered the hanging body of SM Tanim (30), a leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League's Patiya Government College branch in Chattogram, from a yarn mill in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj.

The body was recovered on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, from a yarn mill owned by Abbas Chairman in the Southpara area of Fatepur Union in the upazila.

The deceased, SM Tanim, was the son of Abdur Razzaq from the Khondkarbari area of Borolia Union in Patiya upazila, Chattogram. He was the vice-president of the banned Chhatra League's Patiya Government College branch. Additionally, he worked as a labourer at the yarn mill in Narayanganj.

Police and local sources said local people and colleagues saw Tanim hanging with a rope from a beam inside the mill on Tuesday afternoon. They later informed Araihazar Police Station.

Police went to the scene and recovered Tanim's body.

Md Sabjel Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Araihazar Police Station, said the exact cause of Tanim's death was not immediately known. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narayanganj's Victoria General Hospital for autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

The police official said the actual cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report.
