Chhatra Shakti leader sacked as objectionable chat screenshots go viral

Sajid Ahmed Molla, joint convener of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, has been relieved of his party post after screenshots of his objectionable Facebook Messenger conversations went viral on social media.

He was relieved of all organisational responsibilities on Friday (July 31) night on the instructions of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti central president Zahid Ahsan and general secretary Abu Baker Majumdar. SUST unit convener Rashid Abrar confirmed the matter.

A notification signed by the organisation's office secretary Mahfuzur Rahman stated that Sajid Ahmed Molla was relieved of his post for engaging in activities contrary to the organisation's principles, ideals and objectives.

The viral screenshots showed objectionable and obscene comments about a female student of BRAC University and underage girls, as well as conversations related to rape. The screenshots sparked widespread criticism after circulating on social media.

Sajid Ahmed Molla said the screenshots of the chat are real, but they are from a year ago and were a personal conversation with his cousin. He claimed the screenshot was spread with malicious intent that has no relation to reality. He further said the organisation has temporarily relieved him while the matter is investigated.

Meanwhile, university proctor Mokhlesur Rahman said no formal complaint has been received yet. However, Sajid Ahmed Molla has contacted him seeking security. If a complaint is received, the university administration will investigate and take necessary action.
