Chhatra Shibir leads in top 3 posts

The Returning Officer of the DUCSU election has announced the results of 12 halls in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. In these results, the Chhatra Shibir panel is leading in all the top three posts of the DUCSU election.

The halls where results have been declared are: Shamsunnahar Hall, Mohsin Hall, AF Rahman Hall, Rokeya Hall, SM Hall, Zahurul Haq Hall, Jagannath Hall, Shahidullah Hall, Curzon Hall, Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall and Sufia Kamal Hall.

The results show that the VP candidate of the Oikyboddho Shikkharthi Jote (United Students’ Alliance), Md Abu Shadik Kayem, has received a total of 12,106 votes. His nearest rival, the VP candidate supported by Chhatra Dal, Md Abidul Islam Khan, has received 4,915 votes.

In addition, according to the results from these halls, the GS post is being led by the GS candidate of the Shibir-supported panel, SM Farhad, and the AGS post by Mohiuddin Khan from the same panel.

Earlier, voting for DUCSU took place yesterday from 8 am to 4 pm. This time, students cast their votes for DUCSU and hall unions in 810 booths across 8 centres on the university campus. The total number of voters this time was 39,874. Of them, 18,959 were from five female halls, while 20,915 were from 13 male halls.

For 28 posts in DUCSU, a total of 471 candidates contested. In the 18 halls, with 13 posts each, the total number of posts was 234. For these posts, 1,035 candidates joined the contest. In all, voters had to cast 41 votes each this time.
