Chief Adviser cancels planned Saudi Arabia visit
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has canceled his scheduled visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was to attend the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII9) Conference from October 27–30.
He had been invited by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The Bangladesh delegation will now be led by the Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy for International Affairs, Dr. Lutfe Siddiqui, according to the Chief Adviser’s Office.
Officials said the visit was canceled due to Dr. Yunus’s engagement with ongoing political issues, including the implementation of the July Charter and preparations for the upcoming national elections.
Preparations for the visit had been underway following an invitation delivered by the Saudi Ambassador in July.
Despite the change, Bangladesh will still join the conference to promote investment opportunities, officials confirmed.
