Chief Adviser greets nation on Eid-ul-Azha
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday greeted countrymen as well as the Muslims across the globe on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
On the eve of Eid, he expressed hope that the holy Eid-ul-Azha would bring prosperity to all through the spirit of sacrifice.
The Chief Adviser said, “Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals of Muslims, is a unique symbol of deep devotion and ultimate sacrifice to Allah Almighty. The great example of profound love, absolute obedience and sacrifice to Almighty Allah set by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) by taking steps to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) at the directive of Allah is incomparable in the history and it's a lesson for us.”
He said that the sacrifice of animals (Qurbani) inspires the spirit of selflessness in everyone, teaches the importance of sharing happiness and sorrow with relatives and neighbors, and imparts a lesson in tolerance.
Through the celebration of the festival (Eid-ul-Azha) every year, the Muslims establish a bond of solidarity and equality among the people by distributing the meat of sacrificed animal to their relatives and the poor and needy people, he added.
Noting that the Eid-ul-Azha teaches peace, compassion, sacrifice and brotherhood, Professor Muhammad Yunus said the sincere wish of the Eid festival should be sacrifice, self-purification, self-restraint, amity and harmony of Muslims.
“Let us hold the lessons of sacrifice of the holy Eid-ul-Azha and build the new Bangladesh after the July Uprising as a discrimination-free, happy, prosperous and peaceful Bangladesh,” the CA said.
He prayed to Almighty Allah for the ongoing prosperity and progress of Bangladesh and its people.
