Chief Adviser leaves Dubai for New York to attend UNGA

Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has left Dubai for New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

On Monday (September 22) at 8:30 am local time, Dr. Yunus and his entourage departed Dubai for New York.

Earlier, at 1:40 am on Sunday (September 21) night, the Chief Adviser left Dhaka on an Emirates Airlines flight to the US from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

According to the schedule, he will arrive in New York at 2:20 pm local time on September 22. He is scheduled to address the General Assembly on 26 September. During the visit, he will attend receptions hosted by the UN Secretary-General and US President Donald Trump, as well as hold bilateral meetings with world leaders.

He will also participate in several sideline events of the UNGA session.

Six political leaders are accompanying him on the trip: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher; NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain; Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara; BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir; and Dr Naqibur Rahman Tarek, son of former Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, who will join the delegation from the US.
