Chief Adviser orders immediate arrest of Hadi assailants
The chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has expressed deep concern over the serious injury of Inkilab Manch spokesperson and prospective independent Dhaka-8 candidate Sharif Osman bin Hadi, who was shot by assailants in the Bijoynagar area of the capital.
He said such violent attacks in an election environment are completely unacceptable and a highly regrettable development for the country’s peaceful political landscape.
The chief adviser has instructed the authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the highest level of medical care for the injured Osman Hadi. He has also directed the health ministry to closely monitor the treatment process and provide required guidance.
At the same time, the chief adviser has given strict orders to the law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and extensive investigation and identify and bring to justice all those involved in the attack. He has called for immediate steps to collect evidence from the scene, gather accounts from eyewitnesses, review CCTV footage, and uncover any organised plan behind the assault.
The chief adviser said, “No form of violence aimed at disrupting the election will be tolerated. Ensuring public safety and the free movement of candidates is our responsibility. Whoever the perpetrators are, they will be brought under the law.”
He urged all political parties, activists, supporters and citizens to maintain peace and restraint so the upcoming election can be held in a calm, participatory and secure environment.
Inkilab Manch spokesperson and independent Dhaka-8 candidate Sharif Osman bin Hadi has been shot and admitted to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
