Chief Adviser thanks nation for peaceful election, referendum
Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has expressed heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the entire nation for the peaceful, orderly and festive completion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter.
The information was conveyed in a message sent from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing on Thursday, February 12. Voting concluded across the country at 4:30 pm on this day.
The Chief Adviser said, "The spontaneous participation of voters, the responsible conduct of political parties, the restraint shown by candidates and the professionalism of all election-related institutions—this collective effort has proven that our commitment to democracy is unwavering. The people have played an active role in determining the country's future by exercising their constitutional rights."
He extended special thanks to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, observer teams, media personnel and all officials and employees involved in the voting process. He said, "It is because of their dedication and hard work that this vast democratic exercise has been successfully completed."
The Chief Adviser called upon political parties and candidates to maintain democratic decorum, tolerance and mutual respect after the announcement of the final results. He said, "Differences of opinion will exist, but we must remain united in the national interest."
Stating that Bangladesh has once again proven that the people are the source of all power, he said, "We will collectively move forward in building an accountable, inclusive and justice-based state."
The Chief Adviser said, "This election is a great joy and festival for us. Through this, an unprecedented journey of the new Bangladesh has begun."
He further commented that this is one of the most peaceful and festive elections in the country's history. He expressed optimism that if this trend continues, the country's democracy will reach the pinnacle of excellence.
In conclusion, he called upon everyone to work together in this journey to strengthen democracy.
