Chief Adviser to meet 7 parties today
Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus will hold a meeting with seven political parties this evening (Tuesday) to review the progress of preparations for the upcoming national elections. The meeting will take place at 5:00 pm at the state guesthouse, Jamuna.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing announced the information in a statement on Monday (September 1).
This ongoing dialogue with political parties is being seen as an important step in preparing for the forthcoming national elections.
Earlier, on Sunday (August 31), the Chief Adviser held meetings with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizens’ Party (NCP).
Despite the meetings, differences remained among the parties on reforms and the national election. During the meetings, BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP reiterated their previous positions on these issues. However, the Chief Adviser made it clear that the election will be held in the first half of February. He emphasised that there is no alternative to the election, and anyone considering an option other than holding the election would be taking a path deeply dangerous for the nation.
