Chief advisor directs completion of 13th national election preparations by December
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed that all preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election be completed by December.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka at 8 PM on Wednesday (July 9), as stated by the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam.
He said, “The Chief Advisor has instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that law and order remains under control in the lead-up to the election. All necessary preparations must be finalized by December.”
Also present at the press briefing was Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, who stated that alongside administrative readiness, various associated tasks are underway. One key initiative is the recruitment of new members to law enforcement agencies.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam added, “A total of 17,000 new personnel are being recruited across different forces, including the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Coast Guard. The Chief Adviser has instructed that all training and deployment arrangements for them must be completed before December.”
He further stated, “As the election nears, plots and violence often begin to surface. The Chief Adviser has directed law enforcement agencies to respond to such threats with firm and professional enforcement of the law.”
The press conference was organized to provide an update on the progress related to the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Officials emphasized that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral environment.
