Child among 7 burnt in gas explosion at Halisahar
At least seven people, including a child, sustained burn injuries in a gas explosion at a residential building in the Halisahar area of Chattogram.
The explosion took place around 5:30am at a six-storey building named Halima Manjil in H Block of Halisahar on Monday (February 23).
According to Fire Service officials, accumulated gas inside a third-floor apartment triggered the blast, which subsequently sparked a fire that spread throughout the flat.
A control room operator of the Fire Service confirmed that seven people were burned in the incident. All the injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Local residents rescued the victims and rushed them to the hospital before firefighters arrived. Two units of the Fire Service later reached the scene and brought the blaze under control.
Further details regarding the condition of the injured were not immediately available.
