Child brought water for him, he killed by strangulation after rape

The allegation of killing a seven-year-old madrasa student by strangulation after raping her has arisen in Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria. The doctor has informed of finding the marks of injury as well as the signs of rape on the body of the child in the post-mortem. Police has arrested a youth named Jahidul Islam, 20, in this incident.

The deceased child is a resident of Talshahar union under Ashuganj upazila. She used to study in Noorani second grade at a local madrasa. Her father lives abroad. In this incident the mother of the child filed a case at Ashuganj police station on the allegation of rape and murder on Saturday. Jahidul has been made an accused in the case.

Citing the FIR of the case police informed that the mother of the child went to the district headquarters to a doctor by taking her sick son in the morning on Friday. At this time the child was playing with children of the same age at home itself. Around noon Jahidul told the child to bring water for him. The child brought water for him by filling a pitcher.

According to the statement of the police, after that Jahidul raped the child in an empty room. It has been alleged in the case that at one stage she was killed by pressing a pillow and strangling the neck.

Later the mother started searching after not finding the daughter on returning home. At one stage the child was recovered from the room of Jahidul. When taken quickly to Brahmanbaria General Hospital the doctor declared her dead. Later police arrested Jahidul.

Resident Medical Officer and post-mortem conducting doctor of Brahmanbaria General Hospital Shaheen Bhuiyan informed in the afternoon on Saturday that as there was the allegation of raping the child during the post-mortem gynaecology specialist doctor of the hospital Kamrunnahar was also present with him. They informed of finding the marks of injury at various places of the body of the child and the signs of rape.

Shaheen Bhuiyan said two causes of the death of the child have been found in the post-mortem. One is strangulation by pressing the nose and mouth and the other is excessive bleeding. According to the statement of the doctor, the death of the child may have occurred due to excessive bleeding in the incident of rape.

Meanwhile people of various local professions held a human chain and protest in the afternoon on Saturday demanding the trial of the rape and murder of the child. This programme was held at the premises of Brahmanbaria Press Club on the initiative of an organisation named ‘Oikyobaddho Sadar Brahmanbaria’.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Brahmanbaria Arafatul Islam informed that the arrested Jahidul has been sent to jail through the court in the afternoon on Saturday.
