Child dies after being scalded by hot water kept on stove
A five-year-old child has died after being scalded by hot water kept on stove in Anwara of Chattogram.
He died while undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka on Saturday (May 2) morning.
The deceased child has been identified as Hamim Bin Hossain, son of Mohammad Hossain, a Saudi expatriate from Malipara area of Ward No. 8 of Raipur Union.
According to family sources, on Monday (April 27) evening, the child's mother put a pot on the kitchen stove to heat water. At one stage, child Hamim inadvertently pulled the pot and his body was scalded by the hot water.
He was immediately rescued and first taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Burn Institute in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
The deceased's cousin Md. Qutub Uddin said that about 80 percent of the child's body was burned in the accident. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to save him.
