Child dies after falling from four-storey building in Rampura

A child named Ayan Md Jaozi, 10, died after falling from a four-storey building in Rampura, Dhaka. The accident occurred around 2pm on Thursday, November 13, in the city’s Ulon Bazar area.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased child’s uncle Jahangir Hossain said Ayan was physically challenged. He lived with his family on the fourth floor of the building in Rampura’s Ulon Bazar area. Among two brothers and one sister, Ayan was the youngest.

Jahangir Hossain further said the building was planned to be six storeys high, but construction had been completed up to four floors. No one noticed when Ayan went to the rooftop. Suddenly, he fell and was injured. He was first taken to Better Life Hospital and later transferred to DMCH, where he died.

Confirming the incident, Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at DMCH, said the child was brought to the hospital in the afternoon, and doctors declared him dead. Family members told police that the child was injured after falling from the rooftop of the four-storey building. The body has been kept in the morgue.
