Child dies after falling from moving train in Banani

An unidentified child died after falling from the roof of a moving train in the area adjacent to Banani Sainik Club in the capital.

The accident occurred around 3 pm on Wednesday (May 20). The deceased child is approximately 12 years old. He was wearing black pants and a black short-sleeved shirt at the time of his death.

Cynthia Akhter Sumaiya, a pedestrian who brought the child to the hospital, said that the child fell from the roof of a Kamalapur-bound train in the Sainik Club area in the afternoon. He suffered a serious head injury and was lying next to the railway line. Later, locals rescued him and first took him to Kurmitola General Hospital. From there, he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment at 5:30 pm. But, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Inspector in-charge of DMCH Police Camp Md. Faruk said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue. The matter has been reported to the relevant railway police station.
