Child dies of snakebite after going to milad of uncle killed by snakebite

A four-year-old child named Nahid Hasan has died of the bite of a venomous snake after going to join the milad and prayer programme organised after the death of his uncle in Niamatpur of Naogaon. This incident took place in Kapastia village of Hajinagar union under the upazila around 3am on Thursday night.

The deceased Nahid Hasan was the son of Shafiqul Islam of Somnagar village under Porsha upazila. Member of Hajinagar Union Parishad Fazlul Haque Shah has confirmed the matter.

It has been learnt from local sources that Nahid’s uncle Motiur Rahman also died of a snakebite about 20 days ago. A milad and prayer programme was organised at home on Friday praying for the salvation of his soul. Nahid went to Kapastia village with the family on Thursday to join that programme. He was sleeping at night with the other members of the family.

Around 3am a venomous snake bit Nahid while he was asleep. Family members quickly rescued him and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He died while under treatment there on Friday morning.

Officer-in-Charge of Niamatpur Police Station Mahbubur Rahman confirming the truth of the incident informed that an unnatural death case has been filed at the police station over this incident.
