Child goes missing while playing; throat-slit body found by fish enclosure

A child named Muslima, 7, has been killed by cutting the throat in Mollahat of Bagerhat. Police recovered her body wrapped in a sack from the bank of a fish enclosure in Kochuriya Madhyapara area under Kodalia union of the upazila after evening on Saturday (September 26).

The deceased Muslima is the daughter of Islam Sheikh of Kochuriya Madhyapara area.

It has been learnt from police and local sources that Muslima was playing with other children around the house in the afternoon on Saturday. At one stage she could not be found anymore. Later the family members and neighbours started searching in various areas around.

After evening several locals saw the child lying wrapped in a sack on the bank of a fish enclosure. Later going near they found her in a dead condition. After receiving the news police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Superintendent of Police of Bagerhat Md Jamirul Islam said it is being primarily assumed that the child has been killed by cutting the throat. The incident is being investigated with importance. Detective police and thana police are working together.

He further said the attempt is continuing to find out who are involved with the murder and for what reason the child has been killed. The drive of the police is continuing to identify those involved and bring them under the law.
