Child raped by luring with breakfast in Gaibandha

A second-grade student has been raped by luring her to eat breakfast in Gaibandha.

The heinous incident took place in Sundarganj Upazila on Thursday (April 2).

Following the incident, the victim's father has filed a case with Sundarganj Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

The accused businessman, Md. Syed Ali, 52, is the son of the late Yasin Ali of Purba Belka village in the Belka union of the upazila. He is an electronics trader in the local Belka Bazar and is serving as the general secretary of the Belka Bazar Merchants' Association.

Syed Ali has been absconding since the incident, police said.

According to the case report, accused Syed Ali called the child to his home under the pretext of cleaning the courtyard. No other family members were at home at the time. Later, he took the child inside the house and raped him by luring him to feed breakfast.

Sundarganj OC Tazul Islam confirmed the filing of the case and said multiple police teams are actively searching for the suspect.
