An 11-year-old child tourist named Jihad has tragically drowned while visiting Jafflong, a popular tourist spot in Sylhet. The accident occurred on Friday morning, March 27, at the Jafflong Zero Point area in Gowainghat upazila. Jihad was the son of Jewel Mia from Shyampur Putiya area in Shibpur upazila, Narsingdi. According to local sources, Jihad went into the water while visiting Jafflong with his grandmother and drowned due to carelessness. Though he was rescued, he could not be saved. Gowainghat Police Station OC Moniruzzaman said police had arrived at the scene and necessary measures were being taken regarding the incident.

সিলেটের জনপ্রিয় পর্যটনকেন্দ্র জাফলংয়ে ঘুরতে এসে পানিতে ডুবে জিহাদ (১১) নামে এক শিশু পর্যটকের মর্মান্তিক মৃত্যু হয়েছে। শুক্রবার (২৭ মার্চ) সকালে গোয়াইনঘাট উপজেলার জাফলং জিরো পয়েন্ট এলাকায় এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত জিহাদ নরসিংদীর শিবপুর উপজেলার শ্যামপুর পুটিয়া এলাকার বাসিন্দা জুয়েল মিয়ার ছেলে। স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা যায়, দাদির সঙ্গে বেড়াতে এসে জাফলংয়ের পানিতে নামলে অসাবধানতাবশত ডুবে যায় সে। পরে তাকে উদ্ধার করা হলেও শেষ পর্যন্ত বাঁচানো যায়নি। এ ঘটনায় গোয়াইনঘাট থানার ওসি মনিরুজ্জামান জানান, খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছেছে এবং বিষয়টি নিয়ে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হচ্ছে।
