Child’s body found in mosque a day after going missing
The bloodstained body of a 9-year-old girl named Maymuna Akter Moyna was found on the second floor of a mosque on Sunday morning (July 6). The incident occurred at Chandumia Para Jame Mosque in Shahbazpur Union of Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The deceased Moyna was the daughter of Abdur Razzak Mia from the same area.
According to police and local sources, Moyna had been missing since Saturday afternoon. When she could not be found despite extensive searching, her mother, Liza Akter, filed a general diary (GD) at Sarail Police Station later that night.
On Sunday morning, when children went to the mosque’s second floor to learn Arabic as usual, they saw a bloodstained body and screamed. Then local people came, identified the body, and informed the police.
After receiving the information, Sarail police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and brought it to the police station.
Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Police Station, Morshedul Alam Chowdhury, said, “It appears to be a planned murder. The body was left on the second floor of the mosque in an attempt to conceal the crime. Preparations are underway to file a murder case.”
