Child's throat slit body recovered in Mirpur

Police have recovered the throat slit body of a minor girl from Pallabi area of Mirpur in the capital. A neighbour woman has been held in the incident while her husband Sohel Rana, the suspect, is absconding.

The deceased Lamisa,8, is the daughter of Hannan, a resident of the area. Hannan works in a travel agency and stays with his family at a house in Pallabi Millat Camp.

According to police and local sources, suspect Sohel Rana lived in the house next to the same building. He worked in a rickshaw garage. Being neighbours, Lamisa's family was acquainted with Sohel's family. On Tuesday morning, when tge victim went missing, the family members started searching for her. At one stage, her throat slit body was recovered from Sohel's house at 11am. Panic spread in the area when the incident came to light.

Later, upon receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. However, Sohel Rana has been absconding since the incident. The police have held his wife then.

Pallabi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Emdadul Haque said, "We have recovered the child's body. It is not yet known why she was killed. The incident is being investigated seriously. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved."
