China aims to be Bangladesh’s trusted ally: Wang Yi
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that China wants to be a reliable friend, neighbour, and trusted ally of Bangladesh, reaffirming Beijing's continued support for the country's development and democratic processes.
Wang Yi made the remarks during a meeting with Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday (July 10), according to a report by CGTN.
"Beyond being a friend, China wants to be Bangladesh's dependable neighbour and trusted partner," Wang said. He also expressed China's support for free, fair, and participatory elections in Bangladesh, adding that China will assist the country in pursuing development paths aligned with its own national needs.
Highlighting the significance of the long-standing diplomatic ties, Wang Yi said, "The 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations marks an important milestone in the historic friendship between our two nations. China is ready to work hand in hand to advance modernization and development in Bangladesh and other Asian countries."
Wang Yi, a senior figure in the Chinese government, currently serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
