China values relations with Bangladesh: Xi Jinping
Chinese President Xi Jinping has said Beijing attaches great importance to its relations with Bangladesh.
In a congratulatory message to President Mohammed Shahabuddin marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi highlighted the historic friendship and deep-rooted exchanges between the two countries. The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka released the statement on Saturday.
Xi noted that over the past five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, regardless of changes in the international and regional landscape, China and Bangladesh have consistently developed friendly relations on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The partnership, he said, has set an example of mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation.
He added that in recent years the two countries have consolidated mutual trust, advanced cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, expanded collaboration in multiple fields, and further deepened their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
“China values its ties with Bangladesh,” Xi said, expressing readiness to work with President Shahabuddin to carry forward traditional friendship, deepen mutual cooperation, and pursue common development for the greater welfare of the two peoples, while contributing further to world peace and development.
In his message, President Shahabuddin said that over the past 50 years Bangladesh and China have built profound friendship based on mutual respect and trust, delivering tangible benefits to their peoples through enduring cooperation.
He expressed deep appreciation for China’s vital role in promoting regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity, as well as for its long-term support for Bangladesh’s sustainable development.
The Bangladeshi president expressed confidence that with the joint efforts of both leaders and peoples, bilateral cooperation would achieve even greater results.
