Chinese national dies days after being injured in road crash on 300-Foot Expressway

A Chinese national who sustained critical injuries after being struck by a speeding private car in the 300-Foot area of Narayanganj’s Rupganj has died while undergoing treatment.

The deceased, identified as Li Chang Yang, 48, was employed at a private company in the Baganbari area of Madhabdi in Narsingdi. His body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy on Thursday (June 4).

According to police and colleagues, the accident occurred on May 27 when Li Chang Yang was travelling to Madhabdi on a scooter. Upon reaching the North 300-Foot area, a speeding private car hit the scooter, leaving him critically injured.

He was immediately rescued by co-workers and admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Mohammad Raihanul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Vatara Police Station, said, "Police recovered the body from Evercare Hospital and completed the necessary legal formalities before sending it to the DMCH morgue for post-mortem examination."

"The victim suffered severe injuries to his head and right ear in the crash. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received," he added.

Colleague Ruhul Amin said Li Chang Yang had been working at a company in Madhabdi and was on his way there when the accident occurred.

Police said further legal procedures are underway in connection with the incident.
