CHT districts to hold voting before national elections

Supradip Chakma, adviser for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, has assured that the District Council elections will be held in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) before the National elections.

He gave this assurance in a view exchange meeting with civil society representatives of different classes and professions in the district commissioner's conference room on Saturday morning.

He said that the three district councils will be made in such a way that they can work for the people of this hilly area.

"Acceptable people will be taken. Efforts will be made to ensure that the Zilla Parishad does not become a rehabilitation center for any party people."

Promising to work together with everyone for the peace and development of the hills, he further said: "I will try to establish permanent peace in this area. People are very backward in terms of education here. So, I will focus on this issue first.”
