Nurul Islam Sajal, Ameer of Gazipur union Jamaat in Chunarughat upazila, Habiganj, has been expelled from the party after a complaint involving a woman. Party sources said the action was taken to protect party discipline, after they found the complaint to have some truth to it.

According to local and party sources, on the night of August 5, a Jamaat worker who has a physical disability said he saw Nurul Islam Sajal in an inappropriate situation at his home in Gojariapara area of the upazila. When word of this spread, local people caught and held him. He was later released after Mizan Mia, general secretary of the union Jamaat, and Kajol Mia, the accused's elder brother, asked for the matter to be settled locally.

The man making the complaint said that late at night, he saw his wife and Nurul Islam Sajal in an inappropriate situation at his own home, and called out to his neighbors. People from the area came and caught the accused man, but later let him go after being told the matter would be settled locally.

Mir Saheb Ali, general secretary of Chunarughat upazila Jamaat, said the party checked the complaint after receiving it. Since the early investigation showed the complaint appeared to be true, they decided to expel Nurul Islam Sajal from the party. He said they tried several times to reach the accused on his mobile phone to hear his side, but his phone was switched off.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chunarughat police station, Saiful Islam, said police are aware the incident has spread on social media. But no written complaint has been filed at the police station so far. If a complaint is filed, police will investigate and take action under the law.
