Chunnu: Jatiya Party to contest in national polls, alone

Jatiya party (JaPa) has decided to join the upcoming 12thth parliamentary election alone, the Secretary General of the party Mujibul Haque Chunnu announced.

He made the announcement while addressing a press briefing held at the party chairman’s office in Banani on Wednesday afternoon.

He said that although JaPa was undecided over participating in the election, it continues it preparation so that they can act accordingly if they finally decided to get into the contest.

“We were confused as to the party the voting environment seemed not to be in favour of holding fair election. But assurances from the Election Commission (EC) and other concern authorities convinced the party and so, the chairman of the party decided to take part in the election,” Chunnu explained.

Till noon of Wednesday (in two and a half day), nearly 1400 nomination forms have been collected by the party men and in every seat, more than one leader have collected the nomination forms. “We will fight from all 300 seats and will not go for any alliance,” the JaPa Secretary General said.
