The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has seized assets worth Tk 5.44 crore belonging to AHM Fuad, 52, former APS to ex-LGRD Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

The seized properties include a flat and 38.933 decimals of land.

The Faridpur Senior Special Judge Court issued the order, CID Special Superintendent (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan confirmed on Monday (November 24).

He said the investigation found that during Mosharraf Hossain’s tenure, Fuad worked as his APS and formed the so-called “Helmet Bahini” in Faridpur with the help of local Chhatra League leaders Sajjad Hossain Barkat and Imtiaz Hossain Rubel.

The group allegedly controlled tenders of multiple government offices—including LGED, Health Engineering, Education Department, Public Works, BADC, Passport Office, BRTA, and Roads and Highways—collecting commissions and amassing illegal wealth.

Fuad is also accused of extorting money by threatening individuals. CID found he purchased large amounts of property in the names of his first wife Farzana Fuad, second wife Taslima Akter Babli, his second mother-in-law Nadera Begum, and other relatives. He also invested in luxury vehicles under anonymous ownership.

Following the probe, CID filed a money laundering case with Kotwali Police Station in Faridpur.
