Claim of Hannan Masud's brother's death rumor

A claim circulating on social media that the younger brother of Abdul Hannan Masud, a candidate of the 11-party alliance in Noakhali-6 (Hatiya) and a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has been killed has been dismissed as a rumour.

Independent fact-checking organisation Rumor Scanner said the claim is false. The Hatiya Upazila administration also refuted the allegation.

In a post on its verified Facebook page, the administration said it had spoken directly with Masud’s brother and confirmed that he is alive and well.

“Dear residents of Hatiya, after speaking with the brother of Abdul Hannan Masud, candidate of the 11-party alliance in Noakhali-6 (Hatiya), it has been confirmed that he is safe,” the post said.

Authorities have urged the public not to spread unverified information and to refrain from circulating rumours.

Officials also called on citizens to remain cautious about misinformation and misleading content amid the ongoing election period.
