Clashes between AL, BNP in Araihazar leave 15 injured

At least 15 people, including women, were injured in repeated clashes between Awami League and BNP supporters in Araihazar of Narayanganj over the nationwide “lockdown” call by the banned Awami League.

The clashes began around 5.00am in Kakailmura under Khagkanda Union on Thursday (November 13).

According to locals, the clash erupted between supporters of Awami League Senior Vice-President Shah Alam and BNP General Secretary Zakaria Mia. Petrol bombs were hurled and property damaged during clashes.

Locals also reported looting at a grocery shop owned by Ratan Molla, a local businessman.

On information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while others received treatment at the local health complex. One of the injured is in critical condition.

Khandakar Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Araihazar Police Station, said, "The situation is under control, with additional police deployed, and investigations will follow if formal complaints are filed."
