Class six to get four new subjects from 2027: Education Minister
Four new subjects will be introduced in the Class Six curriculum from 2027 to broaden students’ learning beyond traditional academic studies, Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan said on Tuesday (October 6).
The new subjects will be joyful learning, technical education, sports and culture, he said.
The minister made the announcement while responding to questions from journalists after inaugurating the 53rd National Summer Sports Competition at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla in this morning.
Milan said students should be encouraged from an early age to develop creativity and practical skills alongside their academic studies and to take part in sports and cultural activities.
“The aim is to create opportunities for students to develop their creativity, technical skills and physical and cultural abilities alongside their regular education,” he said.
The minister also said the curriculum would be revised and updated as necessary from 2028. The government would consider introducing additional textbooks based on students’ needs and the demands of the time, he added.
Speaking as a special guest, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin said the ongoing conflict in the Middle East had pushed up global prices of gas and fuel oil, with the impact also being felt in Bangladesh.
However, he said, diesel prices in Bangladesh remained relatively lower than in neighbouring and other surrounding countries.
The event was chaired by Cumilla Education Board Chairman Prof Md Ahsan Parvez. Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Sumon and Cumilla-10 lawmaker Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan also attended as special guests.
