Cleanliness drive conducted at ancient pond in Mirkadim

A cleanliness drive was carried out at the historic pond adjacent to the Deputy Bari Jame Mosque in South Ramgopalpur area of Mirkadim municipality in Munshiganj. Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Mirkadim Municipal Administrator Md. Masudur Rahman jointly conducted the drive.

Organized jointly by the Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Administration and Mirkadim Municipality, the campaign began at 9:00 am on Saturday (9 May). The inauguration of the drive was conducted by UNO and Municipal Administrator Md. Masudur Rahman. Members of BD Clean and residents of the local Pukurpar Panchayet participated in the initiative.

UNO Masudur Rahman said that the historic pond is an important part of the area’s environment and heritage. Due to long-term neglect and waste accumulation, the pond had been deteriorating. Therefore, the upazila administration and municipality undertook the initiative to restore the pond and make it clean and usable again.

He further said that such initiatives would play an important role in protecting the environment and raising awareness among local residents. He expressed hope that regular cleaning and conservation activities for the pond would continue in the future.

Participants in the campaign said that regular initiatives and cooperation from local residents are essential to restore the historic pond to its former condition.
