CNG-autorickshaw driver killed after bus hits

A CNG-autorickshaw driver was killed after being struck by a bus in the Farmgate area of Dhaka today.

The deceased was identified as Mamun Foragi, 33. The accident occurred around 12:30pm under the Tejturi Bazar footbridge, according to eyewitnesses.

Passersby rescued Mamun in critical condition and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Doctors later declared him dead at around 1:15pm.

An eyewitness, Kazi Faisal, said a bus belonging to Labbaik Paribahan hit the CNG-autorickshaw driver under the footbridge. Local people then took him to the hospital.

According to Mamun’s driving licence, his father’s name is Sekandar Foragi. He hailed from Char Fasson upazila of Bhola but had been living in the Hirajhil area of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the death. The body has been kept at the morgue for autopsy. Tejgaon Police Station is investigating the incident.
