Cocktail explodes at NCP rally in Savar

A crude bomb exploded at a National Citizen Party (NCP) rally at the Tarapur ground in Savar, causing panic among attendees on Monday night. However, no senior party leaders were injured in the incident.

The explosion occurred around 9:30pm while Dhaka District (North) NCP Convenor, Nabila Tasnid, was addressing the crowd from the stage, according to eyewitnesses. Top NCP leaders had gathered at the venue as part of a pre-announced Padajatra (foot march) program.

Dhaka District Superintendent of Police, Shamima Parvin, confirmed the incident, stating that she was en route to the scene.

"The Additional Superintendent of Police for the Savar Circle is already at the spot, and police have launched an immediate investigation into the matter," SP Parvin said.

Following the explosion, NCP Convenor Nahid Islam addressed the gathering to conclude the rally. He strongly condemned the attack and demanded that those responsible be swiftly brought to justice.
