Cocktail explosion at Kotalipara police station, 3 police injured

Three police members have been injured in a cocktail explosion at Kotalipara Police Station in Gopalganj. The attack took place at around 10:30pm on Monday.

The injured are woman constable Irene Nahar, 31, constable Arif Hossain, 33, and Nazrul Islam, 52. They received primary treatment at Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex.

Upazila Health Officer Dr Kumar Mridul Das said three constables were injured in the cocktail explosion while on duty. Though they suffered splinter wounds, the injuries were not serious, and they were discharged after treatment.

Kotalipara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said miscreants hurled a cocktail inside the station at around 10:30pm. However, no major damage occurred.

The station’s second officer SI Mamun said one cocktail was thrown at the police station and two more at the upazila parishad area. No one was injured in the upazila parishad incident. The cocktails have been recovered and an investigation is under way.
