Coding system for answer script evaluation begins at RU
The formal journey of the coding system for evaluating examination answer scripts is beginning at Rajshahi University (RU). From the 2025-26 academic year, answer scripts will be evaluated under this system in phases. The programme will be inaugurated tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15, by supplying coded answer scripts and examination-related materials to six departments of the university.
The matter was confirmed by Professor Dr Md Hasnat Kabir, Acting Controller of Examinations.
According to university administration sources, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Faridul Islam will hand over the necessary materials for conducting examinations under the coding system to representatives of the six departments on Tuesday.
In the first phase, the departments receiving coded answer scripts are Islamic History and Culture, Political Science, Social Work, Statistics, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Computer Science and Engineering.
The university administration said the system is being introduced to ensure neutrality and transparency in the evaluation of examination scripts. Under the coding system, a specific code will be used to conceal the examinee's identity on the answer script. As a result, the examiner will not be able to know the examinee's identity while evaluating the script.
Regarding the matter, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Faridul Islam said, "The use of the coding system in evaluating examination scripts is about to begin at Rajshahi University. Necessary answer scripts have already been prepared for all departments of the university. The departments whose examinations come up next will be provided with coded answer scripts at the stipulated time."
He further said, "Six departments have already informed us of their examination dates. Tomorrow, coded answer scripts prepared for those six departments will be supplied. Through this, the formal journey of the coding system in evaluating examination scripts at Rajshahi University is beginning. The introduction of this system will further increase transparency and neutrality in the evaluation of answer scripts and boost confidence in the preparation of examinees' results."
