Colleges to get up to 16-day break for Durga Puja

Educational institutions across the country will observe extended holidays in October for Durga Puja and Lakshmi Puja, with government and private colleges set to get up to 16 consecutive days off when weekly holidays are included.

According to the annual holiday calendars, colleges will remain closed for a total of 20 days in October, including weekends. The main Puja break is scheduled from October 18 to 29, with weekly holidays before and after the period extending the continuous closure to 16 days.

Colleges will hold classes on only 10 days throughout the month.

Secondary schools will observe the Durga Puja holiday from October 18 to 22. With weekly holidays and Lakshmi Puja on October 25, students and teachers will get a 10-day break. Schools will conduct classes for 15 days in October.

Government primary schools will also remain closed from October 18 to 22, followed by weekly holidays and the Lakshmi Puja holiday, resulting in a 10-day break.

Government and private madrasas will have holidays from October 20 to 22. Including weekly holidays, they will get five consecutive days off.

Technical education institutions will remain closed from October 18 to 22, with weekly holidays and the Lakshmi Puja holiday extending the break to 10 days.

The holiday schedule for autonomous universities will vary according to their individual academic calendars. Their respective syndicates or authorities will determine the timing and duration of the Puja break.
