Comilla University students block Dhaka-Chattogram Highway seeking justice for Oprotim
Students of Comilla University blocked the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on Sunday (September 20), demanding justice over the killing of schoolboy Ishayat Shahriar Oprotim.
The students brought out a protest procession from the university’s main gate after Opratim’s first janaza on the campus. The procession moved through Kotbari Bishwa Road before reaching the highway, where the protesters took position and blocked traffic.
The protesters chanted slogans including “We want justice” and demanded action against those responsible for Oprotim’s death. They also called for the arrest and punishment of the alleged killers.
Earlier, Oprotim’s first funeral prayer was held on the Comilla University campus at around 10am. A second janaza was held at Gandhamati around 11am, after which the 13-year-old was buried at a local graveyard.
Oprotim, a Class VII student, was found dead in a wooded area in Cumilla’s Kotbari on Saturday, a day after he went missing. Police said he had suffered a serious head injury.
