The condition of the 10-year-old madrasa student who was tortured in Bheramara in Kushtia is still critical, said the doctor on duty at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rajshahi Medical College (RMCH).
On Thursday evening, the doctor on duty told Views Bangladesh that if the child's physical condition improves, she will be transferred to the gynecology department. However, her condition is still critical.
The child's father, who was waiting outside the intensive care unit, said, 'My daughter is still in the ICU, they are not allowing us to go there. Her physical condition is as critical as before. Today she has completely stopped talking.'
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital spokesperson Dr. Shankar Biswas said that when she was taken out of the ICU this morning and taken to the OCC, her condition deteriorated. Later, she was taken back to the ICU.'
He further said, 'The child is in trauma. She is unable to speak. She is not eating anything. The child's condition is critical. There are many signs of torture on her body.'
The family alleges that the child was raped. The madarasa student was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition on Monday morning. The child was sent to the ICU on Monday when her condition deteriorated.
A case has been filed with Bheramara Police Station in this incident based on the written complaint of the child's mother and the police have arrested the director of the madrasa, Saidul Islam.
