A content creator was abducted from his home and beaten to death in Kasba upazila, Brahmanbaria. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, March 24, in Shimrail village of Mehari union.

The deceased, Deen Islam, 30, was the son of Sofiul Islam from the same village. He ran a Facebook and YouTube page named 'Talash Crime Dristi' and gained local recognition by creating videos on drug abuse, drug trafficking and various criminal activities.

According to police and local sources, a group of 20-30 people took him from his home on Tuesday afternoon and beat him mercilessly. The assailants later left him critically injured on the riverbank in the Gangerkut area under Cumilla's Bangra police station, after crossing the Buri river.

Family members sought police assistance by calling the national emergency service number 999. Police later learned the location fell under Bangra Police Station in Cumilla. Police there recovered him and handed him over to Kasba Police Station. With the help of locals, he was taken to Kasba Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

The victim's father, Sofiul Islam, alleged that a powerful group planned the murder out of anger over his son's regular video exposés of criminals. Former local UP member Md Abdul Awal and his associates have been accused in connection with the incident.

Denying the allegations, Abdul Awal said Deen Islam had a "bad reputation" and had multiple cases filed against him at various police stations. He claimed he was not involved in the murder and that he was being framed.

Kasba Police Station Officer-in-Charge Naznin Sultana said preliminary investigation suggests a group of people abducted him from his home and beat him to death. The body has been sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Brahmanbaria Superintendent of Police Shah Md Abdur Rouf said preliminary information indicates the killing was in retaliation for a news report or video he published. Police are investigating the motive and attempting to identify and arrest those involved.
