A content creator from Bagmara has been released on bond after being handed over to police over allegations of posting a satirical video targeting Local Government Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on social media.

The accused, Abdul Kader—known online as Sajib—was released after signing a written undertaking (bond), police said.

According to local sources, a satirical video published on a platform called “Dia Blog” on Wednesday morning went viral, showing a parody of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in connection with a cultural event marking the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Patisar in Atrai upazila of Naogaon.

The video reportedly sparked anger among local leaders and activists of the BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal, who described it as offensive and derogatory toward a national leader.

Following criticism, the content creator later released another video apologising and acknowledging his mistake. In the video, he was seen asking for forgiveness, saying his content was intended as humour and not meant to disrespect anyone.

Police said the individual was later handed over to them and released after providing a written bond. Authorities added that he has been instructed to report to the police station once a week for the next six months.

Jillur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagmara Police Station, confirmed the matter, saying the release was made following discussions with authorities and under legal conditions.
