Controversial student leader Mahadi assaulted inside Habiganj DC office

Mahadi Hasan, member secretary of the Habiganj district unit of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has alleged that he was assaulted inside the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office in Habiganj on Wednesday (June 11).

The allegation surfaced after a video circulated on social media in which Mahadi claimed he was attacked by activists of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal while inside the DC office premises.

The authenticity of the footage, however, could not be independently verified.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions involving Mahadi, who has recently been at the centre of several political controversies in the district.

Confirming receipt of the complaint, Habiganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said authorities are investigating the allegation and reviewing available video footage and other evidence.

Police said no individual involved in the alleged assault has yet been formally identified, and further details will emerge following the investigation.
