Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen said that completely eliminating corruption is not possible, but it can be decreased.

He made these remarks while speaking at a public hearing organized by the ACC in collaboration with the Joypurhat district administration at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Monday.

Dr. Momen said, “Former Prime Ministers, former Chief Justices, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, and the Imam of Baitul Mukarram Mosque have fled the country. The main reason behind this is corruption. We also need to investigate the officers and employees among us. You can even investigate me.”

“Corruption cannot be completely eliminated, but it can be reduced. If we are sincere and work together, corruption will decrease,” he added.

At the public hearing, he directed the relevant departments to carefully examine the complaints received and take swift action.

With Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury in the chair, ACC Rajshahi Divisional Office Director Fazlul Haque delivered the welcome address.

Other speakers included ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhtar Hossain, Joypurhat Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Sabur Ali.
