Counter programmes at Raju Memorial create tension on DU campus
After the violent clashes between anti-quota activists and Chhatra League activists on Monday (July 15) yesterday, anti-quota activists and Chhatra League have announced a counter-demonstration rally.
The anti-quota activists held a press conference on the campus at 9:30 pm on Monday and said that they will hold a protest march and rally in all the university campuses of the country including the Dhaka University, from Raju Memorial at 3:00 pm today (Tuesday).
In addition to the one-point demand for quota reform, their programme demands the withdrawal of the Prime Minister's speech and the punishment of the attackers of Monday's incident.
On the other hand, the Chhatra League announced in a notification around 12:00 pm that they will hold a protest rally in front of the Raju Memorial at 1:30 pm on Tuesday.
The Chhatra League informed that this protest rally will be held against the 'mockery' of liberation war, 'cleansing' of the 1971 genocidal Razakars, creation of 'instability' in the name of the movement and 'barbaric attacks' on general students and activists.
