The country's foreign exchange reserves have declined slightly over the past two weeks but continue to remain above the $36 billion mark, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bank.

Md Ibrahim Munshi, joint director of the central bank's Foreign Exchange Reserve and Treasury Management Department, said on Wednesday that the country's gross foreign exchange reserves stood at $36.47 billion as of July 22.

Under the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) BPM6 accounting methodology, the country's usable reserves stood at $31.77 billion.

Bangladesh's gross reserves were $36.52 billion on July 7, meaning the stockpile has declined by around $54 million over the past 15 days.

Despite the slight decrease, the country's reserve position remains comfortably above the $36 billion threshold, reflecting continued stability in external foreign currency holdings.
